Repair length. Replacing cold water pipes. Part 2

For welding, I had to call specialists from the “Russian plumbing”. They performed all high quality and good. They also installed a corner crane. In addition, they expressed great doubt about the feasibility of stainless corrugation in cold water, such as water is very aggressive – the pipe will not stand for a long time. Also, during the conversation, I found out which plumbing. The paste is better to use.

The rest of the installation was carried out independently. And first, with the help of pasta from Leroy Merlin (and according to the instructions on the tube). As a result, in 2 places it began to dig. I rebuilt the site with the help of Paestum paste, conducted a hydraulic test using a shower hose :) giving a full head of hot water.

While digging through it I tested the leakage protection system – it works :)

I will write a separate post on installing the leakage protection system.

After everything was checked and worked, I decided to decorate the appearance of the pipes a little and first painted the cold water riser blue (pre-sanded, degreased and primed), and then the thermal insulation. I liked it and during the next visit to Leroy Merlin I bought paint for a sewer riser, also painted on top of the noise insulation.

This is what the collector unit of the bathroom looks like.

The still-replaced DHW pipe passes from above. The middle tap is made by pipe 15A and goes to the bathroom faucet. On the left, the tap is intended for connecting a washing machine, and on the right, for a flowing water heater. Below lies a crane with an electric drive of the leakage protection system, designed for installation on a DHW branch. Confidence in the operability of the system gives the blue electrical tape, which is wrapped with heat and noise insulation of stainless pipes. :)

It looks like a tap from the riser of the HVS. Immediately after the filter, there is 3/4 nickel overhang 220 mm long – this is in case, if suddenly, for some reason, I want to install water meters. While there is no such desire, but in general the water supply is pretty good in this apartment. Parents in the same socket, but located further down the heating and water supply problems with hot water and heating. Putting counters there is simply not profitable.

This is a collector installed in the toilet. The collector outlet with the Kofulso fitting is intended for the washbasin faucet (there will be an angled sink in the toilet), the middle outlet is for the toilet flush cistern (temporarily flexible inlet, since the old toilet, has water supply from the side. I’ll do the same on the new inlet from the bottom) stainless pipe, only with union nuts). Right-tap with angle – water supply to the kitchen faucet.

Kitchen: HVS supply is made using temporary technology – standard flexible mixer hoses + nipple + flexible collector hoses. The faucet is also installed temporary – inexpensive since the kitchen will not be repaired in the near future. Also in the photo, you can see the faucet and oblique filter – this is for the dishwasher.

Drain into the sewer made by abandoning the corrugation. There are only problems with its operation. To connect to the siphon, I had to use a piece of the old corrugation – a nut and a white outlet from the siphon – this is a section of the old corrugation. Then everything is simple: a cuff and sewer pipes. Sewer tee is used for subsequent connection of the dishwasher, but maybe I will redo the system when I assemble the kitchen to provide better access to space under the sink.

Here is a niche with risers after painting. The coating has already gotten dirty a bit during the plasterwork – you have to fix it, but these are trifles. In the future, I will also repaint the hot water pipes – bright red, and the niche inside bright white. I like it so much :) I will also mount a small rack system inside.

The result of work on the cold water. For my taste it’s very harmonious and not bad, only the brass fitting has to be repainted. Well, in the same way, to make dhw.

According to the results of more than six months of operation of the corrugated pipe at the cold water supply, I can note the following:

  1. There is no noise from the flow of water through the corrugation! Even with maximum water draw-off, the “main” pipe du20A does not make noise. Even the taps from the collectors to the mixers, made by the pipe 15A, are not noisy. Only the aerator in the mixer makes noise, and the mixer itself.
  2. The pipe remains a fairly aesthetic appearance. It is a pity there are no nickel-plated fittings manufactured by Cofulso. Since I decided to make an open installation of pipes without wiring them to the wall, the yellow brass fittings do not look very beautiful against the background of a nickel-plated mixer. So far I decided to paint them with special paint. And I will look for deep cups for water outlets.
